We begin the new year with a new group of students in Business Professionals of America. On October 28 we initiated our new officers and our new members. Everyone got a BPA official pin with the logo this year " Spread your Wings" and we had a celebration afterward with refreshments. Students are ready to begin their journey in BPA.
We are getting ready to compete at State for our BPA Contests. The top 5 places will advance to nationals which will be held in Boston, MA this year.
We have 3 juniors and 4 seniors participating at State this coming Thursday and Friday. Good Luck!!! Welcome New Juniors to Medical Administrative Specialist. This upcoming year is going to be a great one! You will have the exclusive opportunity to participate in one of the largest student-run organizations in all of the U.S. Business Professionals of America is a co-curricular club which provides students opportunities for leadership, community service, friendship, competition, travel within the U.S. and much more. As a member, you will have a chance to be a leader, help out your community, make new and lasting friendships, travel to either Boston, MA or Orlando, FL. and compete for high honors.
We will also be learning new and exciting things that will jump start your new career as a Medical professional. We will be going on field trips and having luncheons and meeting many new people. We will have business professionals meetings and elect officers who will run them. We will all choose a committee to participate on and provide ideas to our committee chairperson. We will strive to learn and grow and be the best medical specialists that we can be!!! I am looking forward to working with all of you and I hope that you enjoy the next two years in this wonderful program. Mrs. Clements took three students to the Business Professionals of America National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, CA May 6-10, 2015. Breanna Stanzek from North Royalton and the MAS class competed in Basic Office Systems & Procedures, Ray Gines from Computer Software & Development from Twinsburg competed in JAVA Programming and Courtney Blaha from Digital Design and Twinsburg competed in Fundamentals of Desktop Publishing.
On the first night there, students trading state pins with other competitors from other state and then we went to the Opening Ceremony at the Anaheim Convention Center. On the second day, the girls went on a tour to Huntington Beach, CA and on the last day we all went to Disney Land's California Adventure for a day of fun and excitement. The students did great in their competitions and we all had a wonderful time! So far the following students have earned their MS Office Specialist Certifications in PowerPoint:

She along with 2 other students from Cuyahoga Valley Career Center will compete at the competitions to be held this year in Anaheim, California. Congratulations to Breanna!!! Great Job!!
Breanna competed in Basic Office Systems and Procedures where she had to answer some multiple choice questions, and then type and format several documents in the proper business format. Breanna placed 5th overall. We also had two other students who placed in the top 10 at the State competition. Tiffany Ivey from the senior class placed 6th in Advanced Office Systems and Procedures. She just missed qualifying for nationals. Sydney Rolsen from the junior class placed 4th in Interview Skills. She just missed qualifying for nationals as well. All students did a great job! Our BPA State competitions are just around the corner. We will be sending 7 students to compete in various competitions to Columbus, OH on March 12-13. We have 3 juniors and 4 seniors participating. We will be competing in Medical Office Procedures, Legal Office Procedures, Basic Office Systems and Procedures, Advanced Office Systems and Procedures, Interviewing Skills, and Advanced Spreadsheet applications.
Good luck to all participants! Well students... Another school year is right around the corner... make sure if you are a senior you have taken the CPR class provided at CVCC this summer. If not you can take it at your local community recreation center.
If you are an incoming junior... make sure you get your uniforms (scrubs) for the first day of school. I can't wait to see you all... we will have a great school year!!! Well we are coming to the end of another great school year. Seniors are out and preparing to enter the work force with all their certifications in hand. Any senior who is looking for a job can always go onto the CVCC website and click on Job Placement to see a list of all the jobs available. I wish all the seniors well in their future endeavors.
